Bunkyū 1		 Tsunekichi Yamada, an ornamental goods merchant, begins selling shell crafts and wooden beads under the name "Tsune" in what is now Abeno Ward.

Meiji 1		 The second-generation successor, Iwakichi Yamada, continues the business.
The third-generation successor, Tsurukichi Yamada, operates under the name "Tsuru" at the same location.
1877
Meiji 10		 The fourth-generation successor, Umekichi Yamada, relocates to Tamatsukuri and continues manufacturing Nenju.

Meiji 38 		Begins wholesale distribution of Nenju.

Shōwa 14 		The fifth-generation successor, Yoshirō Yamada, renames the business to "Yamada Nenjudou" and focuses exclusively on the manufacturing and sales of Nenju.
